Damon is Getting into the Class C Business

February 1, 2008

Damon Motor Coach has announced the company is introducing a new Class C motor home into their product line. The new product is expected to debut this summer.

Class C motor homes, sometimes referred to as mini-motorhomes, provide the conveniences of a larger motorhome in a scaled-down version and at a lower price. A Class C is built on an automotive-manufactured van frame with an attached cab section. A new generation of Class C’s manufactured on larger, more durable truck chassis have enjoyed an increased presence in the marketplace in recent years.

“We have been totally focused on Class A’s and this focus has enabled us to develop the hot products that our customers want, increase market share and gain momentum despite tough market conditions,” said Bill Fenech, Damon President. “In order to not lose any focus on the Class A’s, we have put together an incredibly talented new team to develop the Class C.”

Leading the Class C team is Jon Gallagher, vice president of product development and sales. Gallagher brings extensive Class C sales and sales management experience, including being the Class C sales and product manager for Coachmen RV Company. J.D. Hershberger, purchasing manager, is highly experienced in his field and was most recently the director of purchasing for Gulfstream Class C’s. Del Littrell, product engineer, has over 15 years of Class C experience. Prior to joining Damon, Littrell owned a product design and consulting business that catered to RV manufacturers.

“Our dealers have been asking us to build a Class C for several years and now the timing is right,” Fenech noted. “Currently there is an opportunity for a strong manufacturer to enter the Class C market and we intend to make a huge impact by developing creative, innovative products with more features at attractive prices.”

Damon Motor Coach, located in Elkhart, Ind., manufactures a full line of affordably-priced, high-quality Class A motorhomes including the Essence, Astoria and Tuscany diesel pushers and the gas-powered Daybreak and Challenger, plus the popular new Outlaw Toyhauler. Damon is a subsidiary of Thor Industries, Inc., Jackson Center, Ohio (NYSE: THO), the world’s largest manufacturer of recreation vehicles.
